Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) Practice Exam

A suspended TABC permit unequivocally prohibits a licensee from conducting any business involving alcoholic beverages. When a permit is suspended, it indicates that the licensee is not authorized to engage in activities related to the sale, distribution, or service of alcoholic products. This temporary cessation is a significant consequence, often resulting from violations of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code or regulatory issues that need to be addressed before the permit can be reinstated.

While staying open for regular business hours, serving non-alcoholic beverages, and selling food products may still be permissible depending on the nature of the business and local laws, the core limitation during a suspension specifically pertains to activities involving alcoholic beverages. Thus, the primary effect of a suspended permit is the inability to legally handle alcohol in any form, which directly impacts the licensee's ability to operate normally in that aspect of their business.
